Xochitl Garcia - First Roll of Film Ever

Xochitl Garcia is a Mexican visual artist who has focused mostly in film photography. “Since I was a child remembered the sounds of the camera because my mother had a Canon AE-1, it was pretty magic and mysterious to me. Years later I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1 Program, because those childhood memories I wanted the same camera to experiment the world of film photography.”

“My first roll was black and white, I used a Fuji Neopan SS iso 100. I remember going to a near and very big park full of nature in my city. It was a cloudy day and almost sundown when I arrived, so I started to take photos and having a lot of fun with the speed and aperture. Hardly knew anything about photography, I just got carried away by the excitement of shooting for the very first time! It was an amazing experience, very magical and fresh. When I developed the roll and saw the photos I fell in love with this way to express my thoughts, it was totally magic and new to me. In that moment I decided that photography was the thing I wanted to do the rest of my life.”
