Amazing Portrait Black and White Film Photography by Željka Debeljak

Željka Debeljak is a 23-year-old photographer from Banja Luka, Bosnia. “My main focus of study is printmaking, but I got introduced to a film photography about a year ago by a professor at my university. That's when my journey of exploring and experimenting with different films and cameras began. Everything starts with a search at a local flea market for a new camera and a new film, something that became my Sunday morning routine. It takes me about a month or so to shoot the whole roll because I am mostly focused on certain emotion and feeling.”

Željka is also an art student who loves to shoot nature and portrait, especially with black and white films. “What I have learned from using film is how to slow down and pick the moments around me, even when it is a planned shooting. The film bursts with creative potential and its possibilities are endless, so in the future I will plan to experiment more with physical damages to a film and post processing in dark room.”
