F* YOU – An Art Photobook Shot Entirely on a Rolleiflex

My name is Jonathan, and I’m a big fan of Shooting Film. I’ve been following Shooting Film since early this year and check for new content on an almost daily basis. I really appreciate having a curated collection of excellent film photographs from all over the world, all in one place. Keep up the good work!

I would like to humbly share a project of mine that I recently published into a photobook. The book is called F* YOU, and it came about as a sort of a fortunate accident.

What started as a desire to reinterpret Renaissance nude art soon turned into something more relevant to our times. I realised that the objectification of women has been going on since, well, there has been art… And so, it was with great irony that I set about to create a photobook with a narrative on the objectification of women, by using nude art… The book is not glamorous. It has nudes, but it is not sexualised. Instead, it is a satirical and sarcastic look at the objectification of women in today’s hyper-fast, social-media-crazed world using, ironically, nude art.

I shot everything on a Rolleiflex using Tri-X, and I processed and scanned the negatives myself. To view or buy the book, please click here:
