Colour Pictures of New York City's Pavements from the 1970's

The pictures were taken from the book “The Pavements of New York” - photography by Nicolai Canetti and commentary by Sandy Leesberg. The pavements of New York are a streetfair, an impromptu music festival, shopping from pushcarts in three different languages, riding the crest of a wave of tourists down Fifth Avenue or walking the empty streets of Wall Street on a Sunday morning. The people of new York are the city - they are interested and interesting, committed to a lifestyle with a faster pace than any other in the world, and the are the least faceless of any people anwhere.
