And now Kübra came back to join with us in an interview to tell more about her work and her passion for film photography.
Hi Kübra Sağın, can you introduce a bit more about you?
Hi, I am a 20 year old English Major living in Istanbul, Turkey. I love cats (I have a Scottish Fold cat named Hedwig), coffee, books and cigarettes.
How did you get started in photography? In this digital age, why still film?
I have always been amazed by this magic called photography. It seemed, being a child, an impossible thing to capture a moment and freeze it forever. I remember asking my dad for a camera when I was about 12. He got me a digital one and I had a chance to practice for a while. After switching to film photography I rarely used my digital SLR. It was pure magic. It was exciting and it was promising. I love the fact that I can't see the photos I take. I love the fact that I can only shoot 36 photos per roll. With film photography, you learn to love the shot.
What is your favorite film camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?
It's like picking your favorite child so it's impossible for me to say one camera I guess I love them all!
Do you have projects in future in photography?
The best ideas I had so far were the ones that were spontaneous. So I'll wait and see.
If you could photograph any person (past or present) who would you choose?
Kate Moss in the 1990's.
Anything else you’d like to say to Shooting Film's readers?
Keep on shooting!
