Beautiful Film Portrait Photography by Michael Taborsky

Michael Taborsky is a 26 year old photographer based-in Hamburg, Germany. He shoots mostly film with both 35mm and medium format. Here in this blog post, he'll share some tips on portrait photography with Ilford films and Kodak Portra 400.
"I wanted to shoot some films here in Hamburg and asked my go to Agency to send me a package and when I saw Lisa, I knew I want to take pictures of her.
Especially with the films I did choose for that, the FP4+ was some kind of experiment because it was expired, so it gave me more grain than expected but I like it tho.
The HP5 did what I expected, soft grain, awesome tones with her hair/skin color and depth to her blue eyes.
I thought the Portra would come out a little bit better for it's natural skin tones and the perfect rendering of reddish tones but some where too red, so I picked mostly B/W images from this shoot."
  • 35mm shots were taken with a Canon AE-1 and a roll of Ilford FP4+
  • Medium format portraits were taken with a Mamiya RZ67 Pro, color on Kodak Portra 400, B/W with Ilford HP5
