Со́чи/Sochi, Russia

Sochi (Russian: Cо́чи) is one of the southernmost places of Russia and the second-largest city of Krasnodar Krai. Located along the Black Sea coast, it is about 1,600 kilometres (995 mi) south of Moscow.

Sochi became world-known in 2007, when it won the bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. It has been always associated in national mentality with south, palms and hot climate, that's why it was quite a bit surprise for many that the city won the 2014 Winter Olympic bid. It is the first time Russia is hosting Olympics since the breakup of USSR in 1991.

Perhaps such an Olympic luck will help the city to reach beyond the national borders and to become a truly global site. Sochi has many attractions to offer for anyone who loves nature, sports, history, and sunny beach leisure.
