'Solaris' by Igor Ripak

Igor Ripak is a Vienna based documentary and fine art photographer. He graduated as a Dramaturge from the Art Academy in Novi Sad, Serbia. At the moment, he is a first year student at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.

In his work, Igor turns to storytelling, which he combines with documentary approach mostly concerned with the identity as the main theme: either by exploring the ways one chooses and deals with the identity alone or as a part of the society, or the ways the society and space we live in is defined by the identity of the people who shaped it.
"These are all the photos of my ex-girlfriend and the objects or places that relate to the state of our relationship. In these photos I am trying to compare our relationship to the one between the characters of Lem's novel. When I’m portraying her, she is aware of the camera. Through this, I’m questioning the identity/integrity of a model in front of the camera: how much of her real identity is the camera able to catch? In other words, to what extent is my girlfriend willing to reveal in front of me?" - He says.
The whole series is on film, mostly cheap Kodak for Russian market. Majority of these photos are shots from summer 2011 to mid 2012.

These photos were part of his intervention on the book it self, if you follow this link on Flickr you will find the result.
