The World’s First Selfie, ca. 1900

Selfies have existed in a less persistent form roughly since the debut of the portable Kodak Brownie box camera in 1900. The method was usually by mirror and stabilizing the camera either on a nearby object or on a tripod while adjusting the focus via a viewfinder at the top of the box.

The photo below was taken by an early Edwardian woman in 1900 with a Kodak Brownie box camera might be the oldest selfie ever taken.
