Amazing Colour Photos of Daily Life in North Korea in the 1980's

Hiroji Kubota (b.1939) is a renowned Japanese photographer, a member of Magnum Photos who has specialized in photographing the far east. Kubota  had the opportunity to visit and stay in North Korea between 1978 and 1992, 13 times, for a total of 9 months, traveling to all the provinces, covering all four seasons, all of which resulted in a great diversity of coverage.
"For this recent trip, my first to the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) in 18 years, I was given a permit to stay for 11 days, so I decided to concentrate on the capital city of Pyongyang," says Kubota.
