My dear deer is a small online shop that selling beautiful handmade redesign of old Soviet cameras by Kristina Papcunová. It was started in the winter of 2011, when Kristina began to revive on her first 35mm film camera. In September 2012, My dear deer and PolaroidLove opened a small shop and gallery in Prague/Czech Republic, dedicated to analog and instant photography. My dear deer is currently shipping cameras into all corners of the world (India, Indonesia, Philippines, USA, France, Italy and Poland, etc.)
"I wanted to have my special camera, unique piece, that no one else has. In that time, I had in hands only two cameras of Smena that I could 'customize'." says Kristina. This idea was inspired by a clever blogger Elsie, who had an interesting idea for a custom wedding plan by putting into guests' hands an analog camera to capture the magic moment. When Kristina started, she noticed that people around her liked them and heard that "oh, you have so nice and cute LOMO" and she enjoyed it more and more.
"Thus I began hunting old Soviet cameras. I use the surface of camera, to express what I enjoy and I like. Each piece has something special, I like the fact that they have something beyond, lived. Each camera is unique and I enjoy giving them a second wind, then when they are dependent only on the sacking. I am interested in their functionality and endurance to withstand such time. I enjoy most analog photography, which has its certain charm with interlinking to the past."
