Captured on Film - Paris

Leyla is a 20 year old student who is passionate about film photogaphy. Later this year she is going to be self publishing her first photography book, based on the city of Paris.

She first fell in love with the city in 2011 when she took a holiday there with some friends, sadly, she did not bring enough rolls of film to capture everything she wanted to and swore she'd be back to take a whole lot more. In early April this year, she is going back to Paris with over 15 rolls of film to fill.

As well as photographing famous landmarks and landscapes in Paris, she will also be photographing the local delicacies, the inhabitants of the city, and things most tourists do not see.

The cameras that she will be taking along with her on the trip are;
  • Minolta X-700 with Minolta MD 50mm 1:2 Lens
  • Lomography Oktomat 35mm
  • Lomography LomoKino 35mm
  • Holga 120 GCFN

So far, she has planned to make the book around 50 pages long, including over 75 of her photographs. She will split the book up into sections and write a little introduction before each.

As well as taking standard photographs of the city, she will also be taking quite abstract photos such as these two below;

All of her photographs will be completely unedited and will be published just the way they are after development.

She created a Kickstarter account to help fund this (please note that the money raised it not going towards the trip she's taking to Paris - just for the film, the development and the making/publishing of the book). She is trying to raise £500 and is just over 25% of the way there already. But another £360 is needed.

If any of you could donate any amount of money, even if it’s just £1, then it would be a MASSIVE help. Of course, there are rewards for however much you donate. If you donate £5 then you get your name on the thanks page of the book, or if you donate £10 you get a print as well. The rewards go up to £250 which will get you a photoshoot in Paris whilst she is there.

This link will take you to her KickStarter page where you can ask questions about the project and donate;

Below are a few more examples of her previous work using film;
